To set up Monkey Universe simply install the downloaded file to a directory (NOT your game directory) and start "MU quick setup" placed on your desktop, select "Begin install" and everything will be set up.

To play the game start "Monkey Universe" from your desktop, select "Web Install" and the game will be started.

Story
Since the arrival of humans to the Monkey Universe there have been those who found themselves wandering the systems looking for a place to call home. Some were dispossessed farmers whose land was taken by the dictatorships of Rhineland and used for "state" purposes. Others were the former employees of Liberty factories who had lost their jobs to slave labour. Then there were those who were not so destitute, merchants and entrepreneurs and even landed gentry who simply found the hypocrisy of the established governments too much to stomach.

Such displaced people found themselves traveling into the border worlds and further, to the very rim of the Monkey Universe looking to find new trade and new pastures. Many of these grouped together to establish a union of freelance merchants and formed trade agreements. This group was known as the Independent Freelancers Union or IFU. As the House Governments sent envoys into these new worlds looking for new mineral deposits and fuels to replace the ones so poorly managed in their home systems they were forced to deal with the Freelance Merchants. These were the brave pioneers who had settled in these far flung systems and had staked claims on the new sites. The encroaching establishment, unwilling to pay for the resources and even more unwilling to do business with people who they viewed as outcasts and criminals grouped together and waged a war on these poorly protected outposts and settlements. The people turned to the only pilots in the Edgeworlds who possessed the skill and armoury to defend them. The IFU.

When unskilled house navy fleets failed to overcome these hardened cut-throats of Sirius they employed the SFG and RIP mercenaries to do their dirty work. The war raged for many years with …[/TBH]
